This is not just any Snickerdoodle recipe; this is my Grandma’s special recipe.
It’s special because she put an extra dash of love into every cookie she baked. I don’t know if I put as much love into the cookies, but I know she is always with me at every step of the baking process.

SOME BOOK INSPIRATION:
“Do you remember the days when we liked to compete against each other?” Morgan from Her Snickerdoodle (Man Card Book 14) took a bite of a snickerdoodle while flipping to another page in a photo album.
“I do.” Noah chuckled and leaned down to sneak a bite of the snickerdoodle in her hand. “Why are you going down memory lane?” He pulled out a chair and sat down beside her.
“Uh oh.” She glanced over at him and raised her eyebrows. “You don’t remember what day it is, do you?”
“Um…” He almost said "no," but stopped himself. Instead, he didn’t say a word for a moment. It wasn’t their anniversary because they celebrated it six months ago in Dublin, Ireland. “Okay, I give. I don’t know.”
“Five years ago today, we competed in our first competition together.” She lightly pushed against his shoulder.
“Oh, the one Art blind-sided me, and I found out I would be working with you and not against you?” He shook his head and wrapped his arm around her waist to pull her closer. “We should send him a thank-you card.”
“Or a basket of goodies.”
“That’s a better idea.” Noah nodded. “He did love our snickerdoodle cookies we made for the competition.
“I’ll make a note to grab a basket.” Morgan flipped to the next page in the album. “You need to make a batch or two of cookies.”
He leaned over and kissed her cheek. “I will get right on that.” Then, he closed the album and grabbed her hand. “First, we have some celebrating of our own to do.”
SOME BEHIND THE SCENES:
When I released Her Snickerdoodle (Man Card Book 14), several people asked me about a Snickerdoodle cookie. So, here it is! The best way to describe the cookie, in my opinion, is that it’s a cross between a sugar cookie and a buttery cookie. Each bite is packed full of cinnamon happiness.
This recipe is easy to make—like, really, really easy—which, in some ways, is probably dangerous. Hubby and I did share some of the cookies with a few friends, but we may or may not have devoured the rest. When the container was empty, we both wanted more. See why putting the recipe in the “easy to make” category is dangerous.
Are you ready to cozy up with a book and devour more than one cookie?

Snickerdoodle Cookies
Recipe by Terra Kelly and my Grandma
Prep: 10-15 minutes
Cook: 8-10 minutes
Makes: 38 cookies
Ingredients:
1 cup butter-flavored shortening
1 ½ cups white sugar
2 eggs
2 ¾ cups all-purpose flour
2 tsp cream of tartar
1 tsp baking soda
½ tsp salt
2 Tbsp sugar
2 tsp cinnamon
Directions:
Preheat oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit. Grease a baking sheet or use a Silpat (or parchment paper).
In a medium bowl, mix shortening, sugar, and eggs.
In a small bowl, mix flour, cream of tartar, baking soda, and salt.
Add dry ingredients to the wet ingredients and mix well. Chill for about two hours or overnight.
In a small bowl, mix sugar and cinnamon. Make walnut-sized balls with the dough, and roll one side of the ball in the cinnamon sugar mixture. Bake for 8-10 minutes, depending on the oven. (I baked my cookies for 8 ½ minutes for a softer cookie.)
Enjoy (but warning, one is never enough).
Note: If you don’t have butter-flavored shortening, use ½ cup butter and ½ cup shortening. Then you still have the delicate cookie with a delicious butter flavor.
